Yodiwo Announces the completion of the EUROSTIA project: Setting new standards in Facility Management

Yodiwo is announcing the successful completion of the EUROSTIA project, a significant initiative in sustainable facility management. This project, conducted in collaboration with the SMART group at the University of South Eastern Norway (USN), represents an important achievement in the integration of cutting-edge technologies with Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) principles. Funded by a grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway through the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021, EUROSTIA is a testament to the power of international cooperation in fostering business innovation in Greece.

EUROSTIA, an Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS), is the first system to leverage IoT, Big Data, and AI/ML technologies to create a digital twin of organizations. This innovative approach not only streamlines energy consumption and equipment maintenance but also enhances the well-being of facility occupants, ensuring adherence to stringent regulatory and auditing standards.

The project’s goal was to elevate Yodiwo’s existing platform, YodiFEM, to new heights, transforming it into a scalable solution for sustainable facility management. The collaboration with USN’s SMART group, renowned for its research in advanced energy optimization algorithms, has been instrumental in achieving this goal. Together, we have set a new benchmark for operational efficiency and occupant well-being through the strategic application of AI and IoT technologies.

Among EUROSTIA’s notable accomplishments are the significant reductions in energy consumption and CO2 emissions in buildings saving up to 10% of equipment maintenance cost , aligning with the facility management industry’s ambition to become carbon-neutral by 2050. The project has also made strides in improving the environmental conditions, taking into account the comfort levels for temperature, humidity, CO2, noise and lighting. It differentiates from other systems by considering predictive maintenance of equipment, indoor air quality, occupants’ habits, production intensity and process-oriented operation of organizations, as great contributors to energy efficiency.

Moreover, EUROSTIA has transformed IWMS solutions from basic administrative tools into sophisticated business operation management systems. This has been achieved through the deployment of digital twins and advanced analytics, marking a major leap forward for the industry.

The impact of EUROSTIA extends beyond technological advancements; it has resonated with various stakeholders,  For example, USN has applied EUROSTIA’s models to optimize building performance and validate algorithms, contributing to significant energy savings and maintenance efficiency. Moreover, guarantees the benefit of the third parties in several ways, such as building owners which are expected to save up to 25% on energy usage and equipment maintenance costs. Ιn detail, USN had the opportunity to apply its models on many large-scale datasets, by using data generated by actual buildings. Through this process, the partner was able to verify the models’ effectiveness, evaluate, validate, adjust, and further extend them based on the performance of the algorithms and the important thing is that for the first time, the models have been tested against buildings located in climate conditions of Southern Europe, outside the Norwegian environment.

As we celebrate the conclusion of this project, Yodiwo remains committed to driving innovation and sustainability in facility management. We look forward to continuing our journey toward creating smarter, more efficient, and environmentally responsible facilities.
